The Thing About Caterpillars

The thing about caterpillars- in particular, the wooly bears- is that they spend all this time in the fall traversing the world, crossing the dangerous stretches of highway, to find a safe place to spend the winter. That they would crawl their tiny bodies across the scalding pavement in September, risking birds and the sun and the heave of a massive car, just to see if the other side has something better to offer. I think we are just like the caterpillars.
